UTM School of Professional & Continuing Education (UTMSPACE)

UTM's School of Professional and Continuing Education, popularised as SPACE UTM, is a subdivision of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and serves as its corporate core in charge of planning, managing and implementing UTM's lifelong learning modules.

SPACE UTM started with an array of professional development programmes including in-house training, short courses, workshops and seminars. With an increasing need for part-time and full-time education options for both public and private allocations however, SPACE UTM opted to also offer mainstream programmes for academia from the year 1995/96 onwards. Presently, Diploma and Undergraduate rank courses are available in tandem with the modules provided by the main Faculties from UTM. With 17 learing centres all over Malaysia, patrons have full convenience in attending SPACE UTM.

SPACE UTM's Professional Programmes specialise in developing many soft skills and technical skills through short courses. These courses are also available for curation to specific groups. UTM's Professional Skills Certificates have been made available as value-adding courses to produce graduates with an additional competitive trait upon becoming available to seek employment. Event management services are also offered by SPACE UTM for local and/or international seminars and conferences to be held.

Concurrent with a mission to offer high quality further education, SPACE UTM also includes Professional Diploma modules and English Language courses for betterment in employee skillset and English language proficiency for both academic and workplace communication. The language programme is open to mature students - general public and working adults who desire to gain stronger English-speaking skills for their workplace.

Alongside SPACE UTM's vision to be the cornerstone of excellence in higher academia, SPACE UTM often recognises and tries to satisfy the community's needs. Heavy marketing and promotions are utilised to strengthen the brand awareness of UTM and SPACE UTM. In 2010, UTM's establishment as a Research University brought SPACE UTM to managerial position of both the UTM College of Science and Technology (KST) and the Joint Programme Management Unit (UPPK). With that, creation of Full-Time Diploma courses and Joint Diploma Programmes with 17 private colleges as a collaboration has commenced.

28th January 2011 marked a momentus occasion for SPACE UTM as an official registered Limited Company via Guarantee. This change in status brought SPACE UTM to a business level in regards to UTM focusing on nuturing lifelong education. Missions in line, SPACE UTM champions the development of innovation and creativity in human capital via high standard of lifelong learning.
